India's Gongadi Trisha has made history by becoming the first-ever batter to score a century in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. She achieved this remarkable feat during India’s Super Sixes match against Scotland, played on Tuesday at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Trisha, a right-handed batter, reached her century in just 53 balls. As soon as she hit a single off the last ball of the 18th over to complete her 100, she raised her arms in celebration, filled with joy and pride. The single came off Maisie Maceira's delivery, taking her to 100 runs, and she had done it in style.

In addition to making history with her century, Trisha also set a new record for the highest individual score in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. She went past England’s Grace Scrivens, who had scored 93 runs in January 2023 against Ireland. Trisha finished her innings unbeaten on 110 runs off 59 balls. She hit 13 fours and four sixes, guiding India to an impressive total of 208/1.

Trisha's knock helped India build a strong opening partnership of 147 runs with G Kamalini, who contributed 51 runs off 42 balls, including nine fours. However, Kamalini was dismissed by Maceira in the 14th over.

Before this historic inning, Trisha had already been in great form. She was the star performer for India in the Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, where she finished as the top run-scorer with 159 runs in five matches. Her batting was impressive, with an average of 53 and a strike rate of 120.45. Trisha’s performance was key to India's unbeaten run and victory in the Asia Cup.

Now, Trisha is also the leading run-scorer in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup. She was part of the Indian team that won the inaugural Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she scored 116 runs in the tournament. Her average was 23.20, with a strike rate of 108.41. Trisha's best score in that tournament was 57 runs, which she made against Scotland at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

With her consistent performances and record-breaking achievements, Gongadi Trisha has proven herself to be a key player for India, making a huge mark on the international stage.
