Case Against Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan for Casteist Slurs

A case has been filed against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram, and 16 others under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act. The complaint was lodged by Durgappa, a former professor at IISc, who belongs to the tribal Bovi community.

According to Durgappa, he was unfairly implicated in a honey trap case back in 2014, which eventually led to his dismissal from the prestigious institution. He further alleged that he was subjected to casteist slurs, harassment, and threats during his time at IISc.

Durgappa previously served as a faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at IISc. He claims that the actions taken against him were not only unjust but also motivated by bias due to his background.

Following directions from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru, an FIR was registered at the Sadashivnagar police station on Monday. The police have started investigating the matter.

The list of accused includes prominent names like Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandhya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, P. Balaram, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K., Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.

As of now, Gopalakrishnan, IISc authorities, or other individuals named in the case have not officially responded. The matter remains under legal examination, and further developments are awaited.
