India Triumphs as Gill's 8th Ton, Shami's 5-For Shine in CT 2025 Win

India started their Champions Trophy 2025 journey with an easy win against Bangladesh in Dubai on Thursday. Mohammed Shami and Shubman Gill played a big role in India's six-wicket victory. Shami was the star with the ball, while Gill made sure India chased the target without any trouble.

Bangladesh chose to bat first but had a very bad start. They lost five wickets quickly and were struggling at 35 for 5. Shami bowled really well and took five wickets for 53 runs in his 10 overs. His fast and clever bowling made it very hard for Bangladesh to score runs. But Towhid Hridoy played an amazing innings under pressure. He scored a brave 100 runs, and with the help of Jaker Ali, who made 68 runs, Bangladesh managed to reach 228 before getting all out.

India’s chase started well with captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit looked in good touch but got out for 41. Gill, on the other hand, played very patiently and carefully. He made sure India was always in control. Bangladesh bowlers tried to stop India by not giving many boundaries, but Gill stayed calm and played smartly. He scored a brilliant century in 125 balls. KL Rahul finished the match by hitting a six, and India won the game by scoring 229 for 4 in 46.3 overs. This win gave them two important points in the tournament.

After the match, Gill said that this was one of his best innings. He shared that he and Rohit Sharma planned to avoid playing risky shots early in the innings. Later, when Virat Kohli came to bat, they discussed playing more back-foot shots as the pitch was not easy for front-foot play. Gill’s century was very important for India, and he showed why the team trusts him.

With this win, India started their Champions Trophy campaign on a strong note. Their next match will be against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai. Bangladesh will now look to recover when they play against New Zealand on February 24 in Rawalpindi. India will hope to keep their winning form as they aim to lift the Champions Trophy.
