BJP leader Rekha Gupta, who became the Chief Minister of Delhi earlier on Thursday, held her first cabinet meeting just hours after taking charge. During the meeting, she made two important announcements. The first was that the Ayushman Bharat scheme would be launched in Delhi with an extra Rs 5 lakh top-up. The second was that the Delhi government would table 14 reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in the first session of the Assembly.

In a press conference, Rekha Gupta also shared which ministers would handle which areas of work in her government.

She confirmed that the Delhi government would start the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which will help families by providing health coverage up to Rs 5 lakh. The Delhi government will add an extra Rs 5 lakh to this scheme. This was a promise made by the BJP during the elections, and they had criticized the previous AAP government for not bringing it into action. Gupta mentioned that the Delhi government would sign an agreement with the Centre to put this plan into motion.

Rekha Gupta also said that the 14 CAG reports, which were not presented by the previous government, would be shown in the first sitting of the Assembly. She said, "In our first meeting, we decided to launch the Ayushman Bharat scheme with Rs 5 lakh extra coverage and to present the 14 CAG reports. We are determined to keep all the promises we made to the people."

When asked about AAP leader Atishi's statement on the BJP's promise to give Rs 2,500 a month to women in Delhi, Rekha Gupta replied that the BJP government would decide its own plans. She said, "This is our government now. We will set our own agenda. Let us work on our plans."

Atishi had hoped that the first cabinet meeting would focus on the Rs 2,500-a-month promise for women. She also mentioned that the first payment should be given by March 8, on International Women’s Day.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme was an important promise made by the BJP in their election manifesto. It aims to provide free treatment to families, with the additional Rs 5 lakh support from the Delhi government for poorer families.

Rekha Gupta and her cabinet ministers also took part in a religious event at the Vasudev Ghat, where they did the evening aarti by the Yamuna River. The cleaning of the Yamuna River has been one of the main goals of the BJP. Gupta said that her government would use all the necessary resources to clean the river. BJP Delhi President Virendraa Sachdeva also said that the party would focus on cleaning the Yamuna as promised.

Rekha Gupta’s cabinet is focused on many important issues, including healthcare and the environment, especially cleaning the Yamuna River. Gupta is committed to keeping the promises made during the elections.

Rekha Gupta’s swearing-in as Chief Minister was a big moment, as she became the second woman to hold the post in Delhi. The ceremony took place at Ramlila Maidan and was attended by top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

After the ceremony, Gupta officially began her work as Chief Minister in the Delhi Secretariat. Along with her, six other ministers also took an oath. Gupta is the ninth person to become Delhi’s Chief Minister.

In terms of duties, Rekha Gupta will handle important areas like general administration, finance, women and child development, and more. Other ministers also have important roles: Parvesh Verma will take care of public works, Ashish Sood will handle home and power, and Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh will look after health and transport.

This first cabinet meeting marks the start of Rekha Gupta’s time as Chief Minister, with important decisions made to help the people of Delhi. The public is waiting to see how the government will carry out its promises in the coming months.
