Will AAP's Loss Impact Bihar Polls? Tejashwi Yadav Shares His Thoughts

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed claims that the BJP’s major victory in the Delhi assembly elections will influence the political scenario in Bihar, where state polls are set to take place later this year.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Yadav, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar and now the leader of the opposition, briefly addressed questions about the BJP's win and the defeat of their INDIA Bloc ally, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in Delhi. He emphasized that democracy is driven by the people, saying, "In a democracy, the people are supreme (janta maalik hai)."

He acknowledged that the BJP had regained power in Delhi after nearly 26 years, adding, "Now that they have returned to power, I hope they will fulfil the promises they made to the people instead of offering only empty rhetoric (jumlebaazi)."

When asked if the victory in Delhi would create momentum for the BJP and its allies in Bihar, Yadav confidently dismissed such speculation. "Bihar is Bihar. It needs to be understood (Bihar Bihar hai... samajhna padega)," he remarked, suggesting that Bihar's political dynamics are unique and cannot be easily influenced by developments elsewhere.

The NDA coalition, which includes the BJP and JD(U) under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is gearing up for the upcoming Bihar elections. Nitish Kumar, who has served as Bihar’s chief minister since 2005, except for a brief period when Jitan Ram Manjhi took charge, is seeking a fifth consecutive term.

Kumar's tenure has seen multiple political shifts, including two short-lived alliances with the RJD. As the state gears up for another political showdown, Yadav's remarks underscore his confidence in the distinct political identity of Bihar and the strength of his party in the state.
