Vicky Kaushal's film Chhaava, which has been doing well at the box office since its release on February 14, saw a noticeable drop in earnings on its second Monday. The film had collected over ₹100 crore in its second weekend, but on Monday, its earnings fell to ₹18.50 crore.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s occupancy in Hindi-speaking regions dropped to 23.64% on Monday. The highest footfall was recorded in Pune and Mumbai, while the NCR region saw only 17.50% occupancy. This drop in numbers led to a fall of over 50% in the film’s box office earnings compared to the previous day.
After 11 days in theatres, Chhaava has collected ₹345.25 crore nett in India. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, along with Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna. Supporting roles are played by Ashutosh Rana and Vineet Kumar. This is Vicky Kaushal’s first film to cross the ₹300 crore mark, while Rashmika Mandanna has already been part of the club with her previous films Animal and Pushpa 2.
The film has also performed well internationally. As per Sacnilk’s report, Chhaava has earned ₹444.50 crore worldwide. With this, it has surpassed the lifetime global collection of Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, which had collected ₹431 crore.
Despite the decline in collections, Chhaava continues to perform well in theatres and is ahead of the newly released Mere Husband Ki Biwi, starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh. The romantic comedy, which released last Friday, has so far collected only ₹4.82 crore. On Monday, its earnings were less than ₹1 crore, making it difficult to compete with Chhaava.
