UP Woman's Execution In UAE Halted After India's Intervention, Review Filed

A 33-year-old woman from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, was to be hanged in the UAE, but her execution has been stopped after the Indian government stepped in. The Indian Embassy said that a request to review her case has been made, and the court is now thinking about it.

Shahzadi, who is in Al Wathba jail in Abu Dhabi, got the death sentence for the death of a baby she was looking after. The jail officers allowed her to make a phone call to her family. While talking to them, she tried to comfort them and said that this might be their last conversation. She also asked them to take back a case that was filed against the child’s parents in Banda.

Shahzadi’s story began in 2021. She lived in a small village called Goyra Mugli in Banda district. She met a man named Uzair from Agra, who promised her a good life abroad. But instead of helping her, Uzair tricked her and "sold" her to a couple from Agra. This couple later took her to Abu Dhabi. After some time, a court in Banda ordered the police to file a case of human trafficking against Uzair and the couple, who are now living in Dubai.

In Abu Dhabi, Shahzadi worked as a caretaker for the couple’s baby. But one day, the four-month-old child suddenly died. The couple blamed Shahzadi for the death of their baby. After an investigation, the court in Abu Dhabi found her guilty and gave her the death sentence. When Shahzadi’s father, Shabbir Khan, heard this, he asked the government for help to save his daughter’s life.

Shahzadi had faced many problems in her life. As a child, she got burnt while working in the kitchen. In 2020, she met Uzair on social media. He told her he would help her get treatment for her face and give her a better life. She believed him and went with him to Agra in 2021. But instead of helping her, Uzair took her to Abu Dhabi and left her with his relatives, a couple named Faiz and Nadia. It was during this time that their baby died.

Shahzadi and her father have said many times that the baby died because of a medical problem, but the couple blamed her. Because of this, she was arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to death.

On February 16, Shahzadi’s family got a heartbreaking call from her. She said that she was being kept alone in jail and that the officers told her she would be hanged soon. They also asked her what her last wish was. She said she wanted to talk to her family one last time.

After hearing this, Shahzadi’s parents have been asking the government and the President to save their daughter’s life. They believe she is innocent and want justice for her.
