Rekha Gupta has become the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She is an MLA from Shalimar Bagh. She is the fourth woman to become Delhi’s Chief Minister. She took the oath on Thursday at a big event at Ramlila Ground. The BJP has formed the government in Delhi after 27 years. The party won 48 out of 70 seats in the election.
Along with Rekha Gupta, six BJP leaders also became ministers. Their names are Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Raviraj Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena gave them the oath.
After taking charge, Rekha Gupta said that women in Delhi will get ₹2,500 every month under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. She said the first payment will be sent to their bank accounts by March 8.
The event started at 11 AM and ended at 1 PM. Many big leaders attended the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states were present.
Strong security was arranged for the event. More than 25,000 police officers were on duty. Fifteen paramilitary teams were also placed. Delhi Police kept commandos, quick response teams, PCR vans, and SWAT teams at important places. Snipers were also positioned on tall buildings near the venue.
This is a big moment for Delhi. After many years, BJP has formed the government again. Now, people will see how Rekha Gupta works and fulfills her promises.
