Congress leader Alka Lamba shared an old photo with Delhi’s new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She remembered the time when they both took their oath together 30 years ago. Putting politics aside, she shared her good wishes for Gupta.

Alka Lamba said that in 1995, she won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) President’s post from the National Students' Union of India (NSUI). At the same time, Rekha Gupta became the General Secretary from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

She shared the picture and wrote, “This photo is from 1995 when Rekha Gupta and I took our oath together. I won the DUSU President’s post from NSUI, and Rekha won as General Secretary from ABVP. Congratulations to her on becoming Delhi’s Chief Minister. Delhi has now got its fourth woman Chief Minister. I hope the Yamuna river will be cleaner, and girls will be safer.”

Rekha Gupta has been chosen as the Chief Minister by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her oath-taking ceremony will be held today at Ramlila Maidan. Along with her, six BJP leaders will also take their oaths as ministers.

Rekha Gupta won the 2025 Delhi Assembly election against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes. She is now the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi. The BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 27 years.

Six other BJP leaders will also become ministers in Delhi’s new government. Parvesh Verma, Kapil Mishra, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Raj, Ashish Sood, and Pankaj Singh will take their oaths as ministers today.

Parvesh Verma, a strong Jat leader from BJP, won the New Delhi seat by defeating former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kapil Mishra won from Karawal Nagar, Ashish Sood from Janakpuri, Pankaj Singh from Vikaspuri, Ravindra Raj from Bawana, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden.
