Tesla Begins Hiring in India, Signals Plans After Musk-Modi Meet

Elon Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, is now hiring in India. This shows that Tesla might be planning to start selling its cars in India soon. Tesla has posted job openings for 13 different roles. These roles include positions like ‘Tesla Advisor,’ ‘Customer Support Specialist,’ ‘Service Manager,’ ‘Store Manager,’ and ‘Delivery Operations Specialist.’

Some of these jobs are available in Mumbai and Delhi. The positions include service technician roles and other advisory jobs. The rest of the jobs, like customer engagement manager, are available only in Mumbai.

Tesla has stayed away from India in the past because of high import taxes. But recently, the Indian government lowered the customs duty on expensive cars from 110% to 70%. This makes it easier for companies like Tesla to bring cars to India.

The electric vehicle (EV) market in India is still new, but it is growing. Last year, India sold 100,000 electric cars, while China sold 11 million. Even though India’s EV market is smaller, it still presents a good chance for Tesla, especially as sales in other countries have started to slow down.

This news comes after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Elon Musk in the United States. The meeting was also attended by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Elon Musk’s businesses, such as Tesla and SpaceX, are also connected with political decisions. For example, Italy has been talking with SpaceX about providing satellite-based communication for the country’s government. These talks happened after a meeting between Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President-elect Trump in Florida.

Tesla’s new job openings show that the company is serious about entering the Indian market and could start selling electric cars in India soon.
