Swati Maliwal Urges Arvind Kejriwal to Appoint Dalit Leader of Opposition

Swati Maliwal, an AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) leader from Rajya Sabha, wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday. She asked him to make a Dalit MLA the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. She said this would be a great way to show respect to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the person who fought for the rights of Dalits.

In her letter, Maliwal reminded Kejriwal of a promise he made three years ago during the elections in Punjab. He had promised to make a Dalit Deputy Chief Minister, but that promise was never kept. Maliwal hopes that this time, Kejriwal will keep his word by making a Dalit MLA the Leader of Opposition in Delhi.

She said that choosing a Dalit MLA for this important job would not only show respect to Ambedkar but would also be a true step toward following the core values of the party. She added that this should not be just a political decision but a meaningful one.

Her letter comes at a time when the BJP is about to announce the new Chief Minister of Delhi. After a long gap of 27 years, the BJP won the Delhi elections. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan. Invitations have been sent to Arvind Kejriwal and former Chief Minister Atishi.
