Aashiq Abu's much-anticipated Malayalam movie Rifle Club is all set to stream on Netflix starting January 16, 2025. After its theatrical release on December 19, 2024, the movie will now reach a wider audience through the popular streaming platform. The film features an exciting mix of action, humor, and fantastic performances, making it a must-watch for those who enjoy intense dramas.
The story of Rifle Club is set in 1991 and revolves around a group of hunting lovers who run a rifle club in the peaceful mountains of Kerala. Their quiet life takes a dramatic turn when a young couple, on the run from a dangerous arms dealer, seeks shelter at the club. The film then turns into a battle of wits and survival, where the rifle club members fight to protect the couple and themselves from the heavily armed group chasing them.
This gripping story blends action, survival, and the fight to keep their way of life intact, while also paying tribute to classic Western films with its intense scenes.
Rifle Club features a talented group of actors, including Dileesh Pothan as Kaduvachalil Avaran, Vani Viswanath as Ittiyanam, and Vijayaraghavan as Kuzhiveli Lonappan. One of the film's biggest highlights is Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, who makes his acting debut in Malayalam cinema as Dayanand Bare, a ruthless arms dealer. Also, rapper-turned-actor Hanumankind makes a memorable acting debut as the volatile Bheera, impressing both critics and audiences with his performance.
Other important cast members include Surabhi Lakshmi and Darshana Rajendran, both of whom bring depth to their roles.
The movie is directed and co-produced by Aashiq Abu, who also worked as the cinematographer. The screenplay is written by a talented team, including Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Karunakaran, Sharfu, and Suhas. This is the first time these writers have worked with Abu since the success of Mayaanadhi, another highly praised film.
The production quality of Rifle Club is exceptional, with excellent cinematography, art direction, and a music score by Rex Vijayan that adds to the excitement of the action scenes. The film also has intense action sequences, with stunts choreographed by Supreme Sundar, making the movie even more thrilling.
Rifle Club offers more than just action. While there are many edge-of-the-seat moments, the film does not rely on excessive violence. Instead, it focuses on the emotions and strategic thinking of the characters as they face danger. The humor, retro-style look, and strong performances from the cast make it stand out.
Critics have praised the movie for its engaging story, high production quality, and impressive acting. One review mentioned, "Rifle Club gives a unique cinematic experience with its retro feel and strong performances that keep you hooked."
Whether you love action, drama, or humor, Rifle Club has something for everyone. Don't miss out on this exciting movie, streaming on Netflix from January 16, 2025.
