Choreographer and filmmaker Remo D’Souza recently visited the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj despite reports of threats to his life. To stay safe, Remo chose to visit in disguise, blending in with the crowd while seeking spiritual blessings. He was accompanied by his wife, Lizelle D’Souza, and shared parts of his spiritual journey on social media.
In a video he posted, Remo is seen taking a dip in the holy waters of Prayagraj, which is a key tradition during the Kumbh Mela. He wore simple black clothes with his face partly covered, helping him stay anonymous while experiencing the spiritual atmosphere. The video also shows a peaceful moment where Remo is seen receiving blessings from the respected Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj. In another post, both Remo and Lizelle are seen meeting the spiritual leader, highlighting the importance of their spiritual journey.
Remo did not write a caption with his video but used hashtags like #harhargange, #mahakumbh2025, #mahakumbhmela2025, #uttarpradeshtourism, and #prayagraj. These hashtags help underline the significance of the Maha Kumbh Mela and Remo’s connection to the event.
Reports had surfaced about death threats received by several celebrities, including Remo D’Souza, comedian Kapil Sharma, actor Rajpal Yadav, and singer Sugandha Mishra. An FIR (First Information Report) was filed in Mumbai, and the police are investigating the matter.
The threatening email was sent from the alias "BISHNU," and it mentioned that the sender was monitoring the activities of the celebrities. It also included a message about a threat related to Kapil Sharma's show, which is believed to be sponsored by Salman Khan.
However, Lizelle D’Souza addressed the issue in an interview with Hindustan Times, saying the reports were false. She clarified that the couple had received spam emails, which they had reported to the police. Lizelle mentioned that the police and the cyber department are looking into the matter and believe the emails were spam. She reassured everyone that there was no need to worry and suggested that the media may have misunderstood the situation.
In spite of the threats, Remo and his wife continued their spiritual journey, showing their strength and calm in the face of challenges.
