The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that the first anniversary of the Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha' will be celebrated on January 11, 2025, a Saturday, instead of January 22. This change was made to follow Hindu traditions and calendar dates.
The temple trust explained that in Hinduism, festivals and important events are celebrated based on the Hindu calendar, also known as the Panchang. According to this calendar, the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir took place on the 12th day of the full moon in the Paush month, known as Paush Shukla Paksh Dwadshi or Kurma Dwadashi. In 2025, this date falls on January 11, and so, the trust decided to celebrate the anniversary on this day every year in the future.
The trust further stated, "After consulting with saints, it was decided that the anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha of Prabhu Shri Ramlalla Sarkar will be celebrated annually on Paush Shukla Dwadashi, also called Kurma Dwadashi, as per the Panchang. This day will be known as Pratishtha Dwadashi, and in 2025, it will fall on January 11."
This decision highlights the strong link between the Ram Mandir and Hindu culture, astrology, and traditions. The temple was officially inaugurated on January 22, 2024, during a grand ceremony attended by thousands of devotees and important guests. This event marked the end of a long legal and political battle over the temple site.
The first anniversary celebrations will be held from January 11 to 13, 2025. The event will include various rituals, prayers, and cultural performances, allowing devotees and saints to participate in honoring Lord Ram.
As for the temple's construction, it was initially planned to be completed by June 2025. However, due to some delays, the temple is now expected to be finished by September 2025. The construction team has faced a shortage of about 200 workers, which has contributed to the delay. Additionally, the committee has decided to replace some weak and thin stones on the first floor to ensure the temple’s long-term durability.
The temple is also waiting for statues of Lord Ram and the six surrounding temples to be sent from Jaipur. These statues are expected to arrive in Ayodhya by December. Two Ram Lalla statues, which have already been approved, will be placed in key locations within the temple.
