Actor R Madhavan recently opened up about his feelings of insecurity regarding his financial situation. During an episode of Mashable’s Dubai Journey series, hosted by Rannvijay Singha, Madhavan confessed that he often feels uncertain about his bank account. He shared that he doesn’t track his finances closely and has little idea of exactly how much money he has at any given time. The actor explained that he used to monitor his bank balance by checking his passbook, but even now, he doesn’t worry too much about the specifics. “I’m insecure about my bank account. I don’t know how much I have, and I don’t want to look too closely, as I’m not sure what I would find,” he said. He added that he has a general sense of his financial situation but doesn’t like to dwell on it.
This confession came as Madhavan talked about his latest film, Hisaab Barabar, which revolves around bank scams. His comments about finances sparked conversations among fans, especially since he admitted to not being overly careful with his spending. He explained that his wife, Sarita, often tells him that he’s not very careful about money. However, he emphasized that although he might not always watch his spending closely, he always lives within his means. “I don’t spend money on things that don’t fit within my budget,” Madhavan said. “I don’t buy things just to show off my stardom. But I do enjoy the freedom that comes with it.”
Alongside his reflections on his financial habits, Madhavan also shared some personal achievements. He spoke about owning a small boat, which he said was perfect for his family. He had always wanted to get a captain’s license, and during the COVID-19 lockdown, he made it a goal. Madhavan explained that getting the captain’s license was not very difficult. After studying for 10-15 days, taking exams, and completing practicals, he earned his license. “I’ve always wanted to learn new skills every year, and getting the captain’s license was a big accomplishment for me,” he said.
On the work front, Madhavan has been keeping busy with a variety of roles. He recently played an antagonist in the horror movie Shaitaan, starring alongside Ajay Devgn and Jyotika. He also starred in Hisaab Barabar, a film about bank scams. The actor has several exciting projects lined up, including films in both Tamil and Hindi. In Tamil, he will be seen in Adhirshtasaali and Test. In Hindi, Madhavan has films like Amriki Pandit, De De Pyaar De 2, Kesari Chapter 2, and Dhurandhar coming up. He is also set to work on a biopic about the life and legacy of the late lawyer and statesman, Sir Chettur Shankaran Nair, which will explore the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Madhavan’s honesty about his financial insecurities, personal achievements, and upcoming film projects highlights his multifaceted personality. He continues to be a favorite in both the Tamil and Hindi film industries and remains dedicated to learning new skills and taking on challenging roles.
