A tragic incident took place at the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal, where a 21-year-old pregnant woman passed away, and two other patients became critically ill after they were allegedly given expired saline. The woman, named Mamoni Rui Das, had recently given birth on Wednesday, but her condition worsened the following day, and she was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Unfortunately, she passed away on Friday. This shocking event has caused great sadness and anger among her family members.
Following her death, the West Bengal Health Department quickly took action and formed a 10-member inquiry committee. The committee is scheduled to visit Midnapore on Saturday to investigate the claims of negligence and to understand what went wrong.
The two other patients, who are still in the ICU, are being closely monitored by the hospital staff. They are critically ill, and their families are concerned about their condition. Relatives of the victims have filed a formal complaint with the police, accusing the hospital of using expired saline or providing improper treatment, which they believe led to the deaths and illnesses.
A family member of one of the patients expressed their frustration, saying, "This is a case of complete negligence. Either expired saline was used, or there was a mistake in the treatment." The inquiry committee will work to uncover the truth and determine if the allegations are true.
