PM Modi urges calm after strong earthquake tremors in Delhi-NCR

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 4 hit North India, causing shaking in Delhi-NCR and nearby areas like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The tremors were felt at 5:36 am, making people nervous. The earthquake’s center was in the Jheel Park area of Dhaula Kuan, and many people heard a loud sound when the ground shook.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to stay calm and follow safety rules. He said, “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. I ask everyone to stay calm, follow safety precautions, and stay alert for any aftershocks. The authorities are keeping an eye on the situation.”

The earthquake happened at a depth of just 5 kilometers, which is shallow. Shallow earthquakes are often more damaging than deep ones. The National Center for Seismology confirmed this, and it made people more worried about the impact.

Delhi’s Acting Chief Minister Atishi said, “A strong earthquake just hit Delhi. I hope everyone is safe.” Arvind Kejriwal, the former Delhi Chief Minister, also prayed for the safety of everyone in the city.

Delhi is located in Seismic Zone IV, which is one of the most earthquake-prone areas in India. Over the past few years, Delhi has felt many earthquakes, including one of magnitude 3.5 on April 12, 2020, and another of magnitude 4.4 on May 29, 2020, near Rohtak, about 50 kilometers away. These tremors, along with aftershocks, caused fear in the crowded city.

Authorities are now watching the situation closely. Experts say it’s important to be ready for such events in the future. This earthquake shows how important it is to be prepared and stay safe during such natural disasters.
