Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Washington DC for a two-day visit to the United States. During this visit, he will hold important discussions with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, February 13.

This visit marks PM Modi’s first trip to the US since Donald Trump returned to the White House for his second term. PM Modi is the fourth world leader to meet Trump in this term, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japan’s Shigeru Ishiba, and Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

As soon as he landed in Washington DC, PM Modi shared a message on social media expressing his excitement about the meeting. He posted, "Landed in Washington DC a short while ago. Looking forward to meeting @POTUS Donald Trump and building upon the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Our nations will keep working closely for the benefit of our people and for a better future for our planet."

During their meeting, PM Modi and President Trump are expected to talk about various topics, including trade, energy, defence, security, technology, and strategic cooperation. Their discussions aim to further strengthen the partnership between India and the United States.

PM Modi will be staying at Blair House, the historic guest residence for foreign dignitaries visiting the White House. This iconic building is often called the "world’s most exclusive hotel" and has hosted many important leaders, including presidents, royalty, and global figures.

Before PM Modi's arrival, members of the Indian community gathered outside Blair House, waving the Indian tricolour and the American flag. Excited to see their leader, they cheered as PM Modi greeted them warmly upon his arrival.

After reaching Washington DC, PM Modi met with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. This meeting came just hours after the US Senate confirmed her appointment to the position. Gabbard, supported by President Trump, is now responsible for overseeing and coordinating 18 intelligence agencies in the United States.

PM Modi’s visit is especially significant due to the recent deportation of 104 illegal Indian immigrants from the US on February 5, which sparked discussions back in India. Reports suggest that US authorities have identified another 487 illegal Indian migrants who are expected to be deported soon.

Another key highlight of the visit is a potential meeting between PM Modi and tech billionaire Elon Musk. According to reports, Musk, who leads Tesla and SpaceX, also heads Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Discussions may include Starlink, Musk’s satellite internet project, which is keen on entering the Indian market. The Indian government is open to the idea, provided that Starlink complies with security regulations, including storing data locally.

Before coming to the US, PM Modi had a short stay in France, where he met US Vice President JD Vance and his family. His visit to France included attending the International AI Action Summit and the 14th India-France CEO Forum. He also held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.

During his time in France, PM Modi visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), where scientists are working on producing clean energy similar to the Sun’s power. He was accompanied by President Macron, and together they met scientists and engineers at the facility.

To further strengthen diplomatic ties, PM Modi and French officials also inaugurated India’s new consulate in Marseille, a city in southern France.

PM Modi’s visit to the US is expected to deepen relations between India and America, covering key areas like trade, technology, and security. His interactions with world leaders and global figures continue to position India as a strong player on the international stage.
