On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sharp dig at the Opposition during his customary address ahead of the Budget session of Parliament. He pointed out that, for the first time in ten years, no foreign forces attempted to "set any fire" or interfere before the session.
PM Modi remarked, “Since 2014, this is probably the first Budget session where there has been no ‘videshi chingari’ (foreign interference) in our matters. Earlier, before every Budget session, some foreign elements would try to create disruptions. Unfortunately, many people within the country would also support these efforts.”
The Prime Minister expressed optimism about the upcoming Budget, describing it as a crucial step toward achieving a developed India or "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, which marks 100 years of India’s independence. He emphasized that the Budget would focus on three key areas: innovation, inclusion, and investment.
"This is the first complete Budget of my third term. I am confident that by 2047, India will meet its goal of becoming a developed nation," he asserted.
PM Modi highlighted the importance of youth and women in the government's plans, saying that empowering women or "Nari Shakti" would be a key priority. “Reform, perform, and transform will also remain major areas of focus,” he added.
Invoking Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, the Prime Minister said, “I pray that Maa Lakshmi continues to bless the poor and the middle class of India. As we celebrate 75 years of being a democratic nation, India has established itself on the global stage, and this Budget will give the country new hope and energy.”
The Budget session will be conducted in two parts. The first phase will run from January 31 to February 13, and the second phase will be held from March 10 to April 4.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to table the Economic Survey today and present the Union Budget on Saturday. This will be her eighth consecutive Budget presentation.
PM Modi’s speech highlighted the government's vision for a prosperous, inclusive future while subtly addressing political challenges. The session is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the country's growth path for the coming years.
