The Bengaluru civic body has announced the closure of all meat stalls, non-vegetarian hotels, and restaurants from January 23 to February 17, 2025, ahead of the 15th edition of Aero India, which will be held in Yelahanka, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, from February 10 to 14. This decision was made to ensure safety during the event, which is a major aerospace and defense exhibition.
According to a public notice from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), serving and selling non-vegetarian food within a 13 km radius of the Yelahanka Air Force Station will be strictly prohibited. The BBMP explained that non-vegetarian food if left in public areas, attracts scavenger birds like kites. These birds can pose a serious risk to aircraft, potentially causing mid-air accidents during the event.
The official statement mentioned that the ban will be in effect from January 23 to February 17, 2025. It also warned that any business violating the closure order will face penalties under the BBMP Act 2020 and Rule 91 of the Indian Aircraft Rules of 1937.
Aero India 2025 will be an important event, featuring key programs like the ‘Defence Ministers’ Conclave’ and a CEOs’ round-table discussion. It will also have a large exhibition, including the India Pavilion and a trade fair for aerospace companies. The event draws exhibitors from around the world and serves as an excellent platform for them to showcase their products and services. It provides an opportunity for industry leaders to connect and collaborate on shaping the future of the aerospace and defense sectors.
Since its first edition in 1996, Aero India has grown into one of the most prominent aerospace exhibitions globally, with 14 successful editions held so far.
