Kenya Airways Passenger Throws Used Pad at Staff Over Boarding Denial

A Nigerian woman, Gloria Omisore, caused a major scene at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after she was denied boarding on her flight. The incident, first reported by the Post, happened when Omisore, who was travelling from Lagos to Manchester via Paris, found out she didn’t have the required French visa for her layover.

When airline staff informed her that she couldn’t board the flight, Omisore became upset and started arguing. Kenya Airways staff tried to help by offering her an alternative flight to London instead of Manchester. However, this only made her angrier. She refused the new flight and demanded compensation for the trouble caused by the situation.

As the argument grew heated, something shocking happened. Omisore, who was on her period at the time, allegedly took off three used sanitary pads and threw them at the check-in counter. One of them even landed on the floor. A video of the scene shows her shouting at the airline staff, demanding a sanitary towel, and insisting on keeping her phone.

In the video, she can be heard saying, "You will provide me with a sanitary towel. You cannot take my phone!" She also made a bold claim, saying, "I will speak with the Minister of Finance in Nigeria. You will see!"

A frustrated Kenya Airways check-in agent fired back, saying, "Call the president of Nigeria. Call the president of Nigeria. You will not fly on Kenya Airways. You will never enter our airline again."

After the incident, Kenya Airways released a statement to clarify the situation. They explained that they do not provide accommodation for passengers denied boarding due to visa issues. The airline reminded travelers that it is their responsibility to have the necessary travel documents.

The airline also strongly criticized Omisore’s actions, saying: "In a distressing turn of events, the guest resorted to inappropriate behavior by removing and throwing three used sanitary pads at our employees. We strongly condemn such conduct. While we are committed to providing great service, we expect passengers to treat our staff with respect. Our employees deserve a safe and dignified working environment, and we do not tolerate abuse toward them."

After discussions between the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and Kenyan officials, a decision was made to deport Omisore back to Nigeria that same day.
Michael Achimugu, a spokesperson, confirmed this decision, stating, "Per our discussion with the station manager, the passenger will be flown back to Nigeria tonight. This decision has been agreed upon by all parties."

The incident has sparked widespread discussion, with many people shocked by the extreme reaction to being denied boarding. Meanwhile, Kenya Airways has made it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated in the future.
