Karnataka is getting ready to host its first-ever book and cultural festival at the famous Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. This grand event will take place from February 27 to March 3 and promises to be a delightful experience filled with literature, culture, and delicious food.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, UT Khader, shared exciting details about the upcoming festival. He mentioned that the event will feature a lively literature festival, a massive book fair, and captivating cultural performances every evening. He also emphasized that since this is the first time such a program is being held, they want to plan everything carefully and systematically.

One of the highlights of the festival will be an award presented to a distinguished litterateur during the five-day celebration. The book fair itself will be impressive, with around 150 stalls showcasing books of all kinds. About 80 percent of these books will be in Kannada, while the remaining will include works in English and other languages.

Budding authors will have a special platform to launch their books at the festival, making it a great opportunity for young writers to share their work. There will also be interactive sessions where visitors can meet and talk with writers at designated spots throughout the venue.

To support education and encourage reading, legislators have been permitted to use ₹2 to ₹3 lakh from their MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) funds to purchase books for government schools, colleges, and public libraries in their constituencies.

To make the event even more special, a committee made up of officials from different departments has been formed to manage and oversee its organization. The Assembly Secretariat is also inviting public suggestions for the name and logo of the festival. People can share their ideas via email or WhatsApp.

This festival promises to bring literature, learning, and culture together in an unforgettable way for the people of Karnataka.
