In a tragic incident near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, two Indian Army soldiers, including a captain, lost their lives after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded while they were on patrol duty. The explosion took place in the Akhnoor sector, which is located close to the border.

According to official reports, the IED was likely planted by terrorists to target the Army. The incident occurred around 3:50 pm, near a forward post in the Bhattal area. The soldiers were on a routine patrol when the powerful blast hit them. Sadly, two soldiers, including the captain, were killed on the spot. Another soldier who was injured in the blast was quickly taken to the hospital. Fortunately, his condition was described as stable and out of danger.

The Army confirmed the deaths and immediately launched search operations in the area. The Army also assured that they were in full control of the situation. A statement from the Army's White Knight Corps, based in Jammu, paid tribute to the two brave soldiers, calling their sacrifice supreme. The entire area was cordoned off by security forces following the explosion as they continued their search for more threats.

The blast has sparked reactions from political leaders as well. BJP leader Kavinder Gupta stated that this attack was part of a conspiracy by terrorists across the border. He condemned the attack, expressing that Pakistan, frustrated by the peace in Jammu and Kashmir, was behind such incidents. He added that the Indian Army's alertness has led to peace along the border, and such attacks are the result of enemies colluding with Pakistan.

In response to the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir. He chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation in the region. Shah directed the Border Security Force (BSF) to strengthen its vigilance to prevent infiltration from across the border. He also urged the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to work closely with the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure security in the region.

This unfortunate attack serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region, and the commitment of the Indian Army and other forces to protect the country and its citizens.
