Indian Army and Air Force chiefs fly LCA Tejas at Aero India 2025

A historic moment unfolded in the Indian armed forces as Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi flew together in the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas. This milestone event took place during Bengaluru’s Aero India 2025, where the two senior military leaders, who were once coursemates at the National Defence Academy (NDA), took off from Air Force Station Yelahanka. They went on a short but successful flight in the fighter jet.

This was the first time that two serving chiefs of the Indian military flew a fighter jet together, showing the growing cooperation between the Army and Air Force. General Dwivedi, clearly excited after the flight, called it the most memorable experience of his life. He thanked the Indian Air Force pilots for their exceptional skills and talked about how important joint operations are for the nation’s security.

This moment also reminded people of Aero India 2019, when the late General Bipin Rawat, who was the Chief of the Army Staff at that time and later became India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, flew in the trainer version of Tejas. The event underscored India’s progress in building its aviation technology, which was an important achievement for the country.

Aero India 2025, which started on February 10 and will run until February 14, is a major event showcasing India’s advancements in aerospace technology. The airshow has become one of Asia’s biggest defense exhibitions, attracting attention from around the world. The flight by the service chiefs in the Tejas was a great start to this event, representing India’s growing strength and modernization in defense.

With the top leaders of the military supporting India’s homegrown fighter jet, Aero India 2025 is set to celebrate India’s defense technologies. It also highlights the country’s focus on becoming self-reliant in military aviation.
