India has introduced two special visas for international students who want to study in the country. The e-student visa is for those who wish to pursue education in India, while the e-student-x visa is designed for dependents, such as family members, of e-student visa holders.
These visas are online applied-for documents via the official government portal at indianvisaonline.gov.in, and application verifications can only take place once done with the specific SII ID (Study in India ID).
The SII portal is a project of the Ministry of Education that has made admission processes easier for international students. It offers access to 600 institutions and more than 800 courses across a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, management, arts, sciences, yoga, and Buddhist studies. The courses are offered at different levels, such as undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and certification programs.
The SII ID is an important requirement for those students who seek to study in India. Using this, a student can easily track the status of their applications to the respective colleges, get a visa application done, and manage all the other formalities related to his education in India. Students can quickly register on the SII portal by giving out basic details like name, country, date of birth, mobile number, and email. Upon registration, one can complete his application using the SII ID.
The student visa is valid for up to five years, depending on the duration of the course, and it can be extended if needed. The e-student visa is granted to foreign nationals admitted to Indian institutions for full-time courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, or similar levels.
This initiative highlights the effort of the country to market itself as an international education center by attracting more foreign students in the country. It ensures streamlined processing for the foreign students who are given entry to a range of educational choices available in the country.
