FIR filed against 4 agents in Haryana’s Karnal after Jaishankar’s crackdown call

An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against four agents from Karnal, Haryana, under the Immigration Act. This action came after three people, who were recently deported from the United States, filed complaints against the agents. The identities of the accused agents and the deported individuals have not been made public yet.

The issue comes at a time when India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, spoke about the ongoing efforts related to illegal immigration to the US. He clarified that deportations of illegal immigrants have been happening for a long time and are not a new issue. The government is actively working with the US to ensure that deported Indian citizens are treated fairly and with respect.

Jaishankar's comments came after the opposition parties raised concerns about the mistreatment of 104 Indian migrants who were deported and arrived in Amritsar on a US military plane. Many of the deportees, including 19 women, were reportedly shackled for over 40 hours during their journey. There were also claims that the deportees had limited access to toilets during their travel. Congress Party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala criticized the conditions, asking if this was the way people should be treated, and questioning whether it was appropriate to treat Indian citizens in such a manner.

In response to this, Jaishankar assured the public that the Indian government was working closely with the US authorities to prevent any future mistreatment of deported individuals. He emphasized that India wants to promote legal travel and discourage illegal immigration. To achieve this, the Indian government plans to take strong and preventive actions against the agents involved in facilitating illegal immigration from India. Jaishankar said the authorities would take "preventive and exemplary actions" against such illegal networks.

Furthermore, Jaishankar stressed that all countries have a responsibility to take back any illegal immigrants from abroad. He also mentioned that to make legal travel easier, the Indian government would look into improving the visa process for legitimate travelers.

The Minister concluded by calling for strong measures against the illegal migration industry, urging that India focus on cracking down on illegal immigration.
