Delhi's New CM Set to Take Oath at Ramlila Maidan on Feb 20

The new Chief Minister of Delhi is likely to take the oath at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, sources said on Monday. The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is planning a big celebration to mark its historic win, ending a 27-year wait to return to power in Delhi.

The new BJP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will meet on February 19 to choose their leader. This leader will become the new Chief Minister. The national leaders of the BJP will send some people to watch the meeting where the Chief Minister will be picked. The official ceremony, where the new Chief Minister and ministers will take the oath, is expected to happen on February 20.

Many BJP leaders are being talked about for the Chief Minister’s post. The front-runner is Parvesh Verma, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP chief, in the New Delhi seat. Other leaders like Vijender Gupta and Satish Upadhyay are also being considered for the post. Pawan Sharma, Ashish Sood, Rekha Gupta, and Shikha Rai are also in the race for important positions.

Some people in the party believe that, like in other states, the BJP may pick a "dark horse," someone new and unexpected, to be the Chief Minister.

The BJP’s win in Delhi ended the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 10-year rule. The BJP won 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly election on February 5. This victory gave the BJP a two-thirds majority and ended its 26-year absence from power in Delhi.
