New Delhi: The famous Change of Guard ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan will now be held in a brand-new format with more seating space for visitors. The Rashtrapati Bhavan shared this update on Saturday, saying that the ceremony has been designed to offer an even more exciting and dynamic experience.
In this refreshed format, people attending the event will get to see a vibrant visual and musical performance against the stunning backdrop of Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to the official statement, the event will showcase a grand display of military drills by the President’s Bodyguard (PBG) and the Ceremonial Guard Battalion, accompanied by the majestic sounds of the Ceremonial Military Brass Band.
Starting from February 22, this new version of the Change of Guard ceremony will be open to the public. However, President Droupadi Murmu will witness the first show of this updated ceremony on February 16.
The Change of Guard ceremony is a well-loved military tradition held every week. It symbolizes a fresh group of the President's Bodyguards officially taking charge.
The President’s Bodyguard, often referred to as the PBG holds a special place in the Indian Army’s history. It is the oldest regiment, established in 1773, and is known for performing ceremonial duties for the President. The skilled personnel of the PBG are not just excellent horse riders but are also trained as tank operators and paratroopers.
This revamped version of the ceremony promises to enhance the audience experience while continuing the proud tradition of showcasing military discipline and elegance.
