Anurag Basu recently spoke up about the departure of actress Triptii Dimri from the much-anticipated Kartik Aaryan-led romantic film. After news broke that Triptii would no longer be a part of the project, social media was buzzing with rumors about the reason for her exit. Many speculated that she had been removed from the film because her "image" didn’t fit the role, which reportedly demanded a female lead with a "pure demeanor."
Some believed that Triptii’s recent bold performances made her unsuitable for the character. Adding to the chatter, it was also revealed that the movie was no longer titled "Aashiqui 3," which further fueled speculation.
In an interview with HT City, director Anurag Basu set the record straight. He firmly denied the rumors, stating that the actress’s image had nothing to do with her departure. “The image was not an issue,” he clarified, emphasizing that he doesn't judge actors based on their previous roles.
Basu shared that the main reason for Triptii's exit was a simple scheduling conflict. She had already committed to shooting a project with director Vishal Bhardwaj, while Basu’s film was set to start shooting during the same timeframe. The clash of dates made it impossible for her to continue with the romantic film.
He expressed his admiration for Triptii, calling her his "best friend" and praising her talent. Basu encouraged the media to speak with Triptii directly to get her side of the story. Despite her departure, he maintained a positive outlook on their professional relationship.
When asked about the current status of the film, Basu revealed that the title had indeed changed, and the storyline was no longer based on "Aashiqui." He admitted that even he was unsure of the final title at that point. However, he assured fans that the official announcement regarding the female lead would be made soon.
In addition to this film, Basu is working on another exciting project titled "Metro In Dino," featuring Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Pankaj Tripathi.
Through his candid response, Basu cleared the air, putting an end to the rumors and reaffirming his respect for Triptii Dimri as a talented actress and dear friend.
