After Modi-Trump meet, 119 deportees from US to arrive in Amritsar

A second airplane carrying 119 Indians, sent back from the United States, will land at Amritsar Airport on Saturday night. Most of them are from Punjab. Earlier this month, another flight brought back 104 Indians. One more flight is expected on February 16, but details are not clear yet.

It is still unknown if the US will send them in an American plane, like the last time, or if the Indian government has made arrangements. The first group came on February 5 in a US military aircraft. Most of them were from Haryana, Gujarat, and Punjab. Reports say that, unlike the first flight, these people will not be in handcuffs or chains.

The last flight caused a big argument in India. Many people, including leaders and human rights groups, said that the way the US treated them was wrong and disrespectful. Some politicians also raised the issue in Parliament. The Indian government then said it would talk to the US about this matter.

Sources say this second flight will land between 10 pm and 11 pm on Saturday. Among the 119 passengers, 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, three from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, and one each from Goa, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Most of the people on the first flight had used illegal ways, called the "dunkey" route, to enter the US. They spent a lot of money and took long, dangerous journeys to reach America. After their return, the police in Punjab and Haryana arrested many agents who helped people travel illegally.

During the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to the US, illegal immigration was an important topic in his talks with US leaders. Both countries agreed to work together to stop illegal travel and human trafficking. They also promised to make it easier for students and workers to travel legally.

Officials said India and the US will take strong action against those who create problems for the safety of both nations. They said these discussions were important, especially after recent events. The Indian government has also promised to protect its citizens who are living abroad.

With another flight expected next week, many people are watching how the Indian government will handle this situation. The return of these deported Indians has raised many questions, and people are waiting to see what happens next.
