Aarti Sehwag makes Instagram private amid growing divorce rumors

Virender Sehwag, the former India cricketer, and his wife, Aarti Ahlawat, are reportedly going to end their marriage of 20 years, as per a report by HT City. The couple, who were childhood friends, tied the knot in 2004. They have been living separately for several months, and according to the report, a divorce seems likely.

This growing distance between Sehwag and Aarti was first noticed when they started reducing their public and social media appearances. Sehwag, who has always been open about his family life, posted photos with his elder son, Aryaveer, and his mother, Krishna, during last year’s Diwali celebrations. However, he didn’t share any pictures or mention his wife, Aarti, or their younger son, Vedant. This raised further speculation about their relationship.

Sehwag also unfollowed Aarti on Instagram, and Aarti, who has 178,000 followers and a verified account, made her profile private after rumors about their divorce gained momentum.

Even though Sehwag hasn’t removed the photos with his wife, the last picture he posted with Aarti was in April 2023. On their 20th wedding anniversary, which was on April 22, 2024, Sehwag didn’t share any public post to celebrate the occasion.

The story of Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat began in the 1980s when their families got connected through marriage—Sehwag’s cousin married Aarti’s aunt. At the time, Sehwag was seven years old and Aarti was five. They became good friends, and as they grew older, Sehwag developed feelings for Aarti. When he was 21, Sehwag proposed to her, and she said yes. Their love story culminated in a big wedding on April 22, 2004, which was held at the residence of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Aarti, born on December 16, 1980, in New Delhi, has always kept a low profile. She completed her schooling at Lady Irwin Secondary School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Later, she earned a diploma in Computer Science from Maitreyi College, Delhi University. Although she led a quiet public life, she was a constant source of support for Sehwag throughout his cricketing career.

Since Sehwag’s retirement from international cricket in 2015, he has taken on various roles, including serving on the Anti-Doping Appeal Panel of the National Anti-Doping Agency. Despite their once-strong bond, there are signs that their relationship is facing difficulties. However, neither Sehwag nor Aarti has confirmed anything about their separation, which has left their personal lives open to public speculation.
