Swara Bhaskar’s X Account Suspended Over ‘Gandhi, We Are Ashamed’ Post

Bollywood actress and political commentator Swara Bhaskar has sparked a lot of attention on social media after her X (formerly Twitter) account was permanently suspended. The suspension happened because of a post she shared about Mahatma Gandhi, which has caused quite a stir. Swara, upset by the action, called the suspension "ridiculous and untenable" on her Instagram.

The reason for her account suspension was linked to two images that allegedly violated copyright rules. One of the images Swara posted displayed a controversial slogan in Hindi: “Gandhi, we are ashamed; your killers are still alive.” This message, which criticized the people responsible for Gandhi's death, clearly caused strong reactions.

The second image Swara shared was of her child waving the Indian flag on Republic Day, but the child's face was hidden for privacy. Bhaskar questioned how these two images could violate copyright, as they seemed harmless. She suggested that the suspension might have been caused by mass reporting, aimed at silencing her and limiting her right to speak freely.

On Instagram, Swara urged X to reconsider its decision. She explained that if her posts were mass-reported, it was an effort to harass her and suppress her freedom of speech and expression. She was very clear in saying that the reporting was meant to silence her views.

This wasn’t the first time Swara Bhaskar made headlines. In November 2024, during the Maharashtra Elections, she raised questions about the integrity of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Swara noticed a strange pattern during the Anushakti Nagar assembly seat count. She posted on X, pointing out how the EVMs, which had been in use all day, suddenly showed 99% battery charge when rounds 17, 18, and 19 were counted. Swara found it odd that these fully charged machines appeared to favor the BJP and its allies, leading her to question the fairness of the voting process.

Swara’s posts continue to stir debate, as she remains vocal on issues she feels strongly about, even if it means facing criticism or social media pushback.
