Sheikh Hasina claims plot to kill her and sister, escaped by 20-25 mins

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has recently made serious claims about a conspiracy to kill her and her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, right after she was removed from power. Sheikh Hasina, who is now 77 years old, shared her story through an audio message posted on her Bangladesh Awami League party's Facebook page late on a Friday.

In her speech, Sheikh Hasina explained that she and her sister narrowly escaped death by just 20-25 minutes. She said, “Rehana and I survived – we escaped death just minutes apart.” This happened after she was ousted from power in August 2024, following a large student-led protest against her government, which sparked widespread anger and unrest.

Sheikh Hasina expressed that she had always faced such dangerous conspiracies against her life. She mentioned that she had survived several close calls in the past, such as the August 21 grenade attack in 2004 and the bomb plot in Kotalipara in 2000. She believes that it is Allah’s will that she survived these attacks. “I must still be alive because Allah has a purpose for me,” she said in her emotional message.

She continued to share that despite the struggles she faces, including living away from her home and country, she believes Allah has a reason for sparing her life. “I am suffering, and I have lost my country, my home... everything has been burned,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. However, she is hopeful that there is still a bigger purpose for her.

The former prime minister also mentioned that she feels like she has been protected by Allah in several dangerous situations. She recalled incidents like the bombing on August 21, 2004, when a grenade attack took place during an anti-terrorism rally organized by her party. The attack killed 24 people and injured over 500, and Sheikh Hasina herself was injured in the attack.

She also talked about the Kotalipara bomb plot, where a large bomb was found in 2000. It was meant to target her during a rally in Kotalipara. The bomb, which weighed 76kg, was discovered two days before she was supposed to address the crowd. Her survival, she believes, is a sign that her life was meant for something more.

In recent developments, a Bangladeshi court issued a second arrest warrant for Sheikh Hasina on January 6, 2025. The warrant is related to her alleged involvement in forced disappearances during her time as Prime Minister, where over 500 people are said to have been abducted by security forces. Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India after being ousted, has not returned to Bangladesh and is now considered an absconder for failing to surrender to authorities.

This marks a difficult time for Sheikh Hasina, as she continues to face legal battles and the memories of near-death experiences, but she remains determined to carry on with her life’s mission.
