Pushpa 2: Allu Arjun's film slows down, records lowest daily haul in 6 weeks

Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun in the lead role, has been a massive success at the box office since its release on December 5, 2024. The film broke several records and gained immense love from audiences, but after weeks of dominating the box office, its earnings have started to slow down. According to Sacnilk.com, the movie earned just over ₹60 lakh on Monday, marking its lowest daily collection so far.

The film’s journey at the box office has been remarkable. It made ₹725.8 crore in its first week alone, followed by ₹264.8 crore in the second week and ₹129.5 crore in the third week. In the weeks that followed, the collections gradually declined, with ₹69.65 crore in the fourth week, ₹25.25 crore in the fifth week, and ₹9.7 crore in the sixth week. During its seventh week, the daily collections have dropped further, with ₹95 lakh earned on the 44th day, ₹1.1 crore on the 45th day, and ₹1.5 crore on the 46th day. On its 47th day, early estimates show the film earned ₹65 lakh across all languages. So far, Pushpa 2 has earned a staggering ₹1228.90 crore nett in India, making it one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema history.

The film has been a game-changer for Indian cinema, surpassing Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, the film features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively. This sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has captivated audiences with its gripping storyline and powerful performances.

However, the release of Pushpa 2 was marred by a tragic incident. A day before the premiere, during a promotional event at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, a stampede occurred, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi. Her child, Sri Teja, was critically injured in the chaos that ensued as a massive crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun and the film’s team. Arjun was later arrested for not ensuring adequate crowd control but was released on bail shortly after.

In January 2025, Allu Arjun visited KIMS Hospital in Begumpet, Hyderabad, to meet the injured child. To support the grieving family, he extended financial assistance. His father, film producer Allu Aravind, also announced a contribution of ₹2 crore to help the family during this difficult time.

Despite the slowing numbers at the box office, Pushpa 2: The Rule remains a monumental success, leaving an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. The film’s journey has been both inspiring and deeply emotional, solidifying its place as one of the greatest films of its time.
