Prakhar Gupta Claims IndiGo Offered Rs 6,000 Bribe to Remove Complaint

Popular podcaster Prakhar Gupta has accused IndiGo of offering him a bribe of Rs 6,000 to remove his complaint from social media. The issue began when Mr. Gupta shared a post on X, where he criticized the airline for changing his flight time without proper notice. According to Mr. Gupta, his flight was unexpectedly preponed by 15 minutes, which caused trouble when the airline closed its check-in counters. He said that he was forced to buy a new ticket because of the sudden change. He also mentioned that the airline's ground staff was rude and unprofessional. He even claimed they were playing private voice messages on speakerphone while handling his complaint.

In his post, Mr. Gupta mentioned inconsistencies in the rescheduled flight’s fees. He was told that the actual fee for changing the ticket was Rs 40,000, but he was offered a "discounted" price of Rs 3,000. He found this offer suspicious and said, "A 90% discount? Instantly? Without me asking for it? Super suspicious."

After his post went viral, IndiGo responded, saying, "We are currently looking into this and will reach out to you soon to resolve the matter." But as his complaint continued to gain attention, Mr. Gupta accused the airline of offering him Rs 6,000 to delete his post. He posted on X, "Hi Navi, your team tried to bribe me with Rs 6,000 to remove this post. No apology, either written or verbal, issued."

In his post, Mr. Gupta invited IndiGo’s CEO to join him on his podcast to discuss the issue. He even offered to fly the CEO in first class to his studio, saying, "I have a few questions for the CEO, please tell him I’ll fly him out first class to my studio, and show him the unwavering Indian Tolerance we are famous for."
IndiGo has not yet responded to the bribery claim.

Earlier, Mr. Gupta had complained about the flight preponement, saying the airline changed his flight time by 15 minutes just 2.5 hours before the scheduled time. He mentioned that he received only a brief text message about the change at 4 AM and not an email. He wrote, "How do you change a flight time and PREPONE it, 2.5 hours before the flight at 4 AM, expect me to make it on time, and then when I do get there 5 minutes behind on the NEW TIME, you do not let me check in my bag and make me pay for a new flight?"

Mr. Gupta also shared how the ground staff was unprofessional, saying they were playing inappropriate voice messages while dealing with his issue. He added that the fee adjustment for the ticket change seemed strange, especially since they initially told him the charge was Rs 40,000 but offered him a discount of just Rs 3,000.
Despite the airline’s response, Mr. Gupta expressed disappointment, saying that no real solution had been offered yet.
