Mukesh Ambani to Build World's Largest AI-Driven Data Center in Jamnagar

Reliance Industries, led by chairman Mukesh Ambani, is planning to build the world's largest data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. According to a report by Bloomberg, this major project will help boost India’s capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI). The new data center will play a key role in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and making India more competitive in the global AI race.

As part of this big move, Reliance is investing heavily in AI technologies. The company has reportedly bought some of the most advanced semiconductors from NVIDIA, one of the top AI tech developers in the world.

NVIDIA to Equip Reliance with AI Processors In October 2024, at the NVIDIA AI Summit, it was announced that Reliance and NVIDIA had teamed up to create a strong AI infrastructure in India. As part of their partnership, NVIDIA will provide Reliance with its latest Blackwell AI processors, which will be used in the one-gigawatt data center.

During the summit, NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, said that India should start manufacturing its own AI technology. Mukesh Ambani agreed, saying that India has great potential to lead in AI and digital technology. He also mentioned that, besides the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure in the world.

The Largest Data Center in Jamnagar: Key Details The data center will be built in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and will be one of the most important projects for India’s digital growth. It will be the largest data center in the world, with a planned capacity of one gigawatt. The collaboration between Reliance and NVIDIA for the Blackwell AI processors is expected to make this data center one of the most powerful in the world.

This move is also in line with the Indian government’s efforts to develop the country’s digital and AI capabilities, which include making large investments in such projects.

Reliance's Strong Financial Performance In other news, Reliance Industries recently reported its third-quarter financial results. The company showed a 12% increase in net profit compared to the previous year, reaching ₹21,930 crore for the quarter ending December 31. This growth was mainly due to the success of its digital services, retail, and oils-to-chemicals businesses.
