In the third and final ODI against Ireland in Rajkot, India’s stand-in captain, Smriti Mandhana, won the toss and decided to bat first. India had already won the series with two impressive victories and was looking to complete a 3-0 whitewash. To make sure they finish strong, India made two changes to their playing XI. They decided to rest Saima Thakor and Priya Mishra, bringing in Minnu Mani and Tanuja Kanwar in their place. On the other hand, Ireland kept their team unchanged for this match.
In the second ODI, India had posted an incredible 370 for 5, which was their highest-ever total in ODI cricket. However, Mandhana explained that they didn’t have a specific target in mind for this match. "We just want to see how it goes," she said, focusing on the performance rather than the score.
Ireland’s captain, Gaby Lewis, also won the toss in their previous matches and expressed her desire to bat first. She mentioned that her team had two days off before the match, so they were feeling rested and ready.
Here’s the lineup for both teams:
India: Smriti Mandhana (captain), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, Tejal Hasabnis, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Deepti Sharma, Minnu Mani, Sayali Satghare, Tanuja Kanwar, Titas Sadhu.
Ireland: Sarah Forbes, Gaby Lewis (captain), Christina Coulter Reilly (wicketkeeper), Orla Prendergast, Laura Delany, Leah Paul, Arlene Kelly, Ava Canning, Georgina Dempsey, Freya Sargent, Alana Dalzell.
Both teams were ready to take on each other in the final ODI, with India aiming for a clean sweep and Ireland hoping to give a strong challenge.
