Hrithik Roshan is nervous about the re-release of his debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, which made him a star 25 years ago. Speaking at the trailer launch of the Netflix docu-series The Roshans, Hrithik confessed openly that he felt a bit uneasy about how people would react to the film today. Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was released in 2000 and marked Hrithik's first appearance as the lead actor under his father Rakesh Roshan's direction.
He was shown a still from the film in which he plays the guitar. "I am so afraid the film is releasing again. People will go tomorrow after 25 years and think, 'What were we thinking 25 years ago? This isn't anything special.'" He seemed nervous that the film may not stand in the eyes of today's audience.
But Hrithik quickly brushed aside his concerns and recalled a funny incident from the film's production. He revealed that the day before filming the song Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein, he was told that he had to 'play' the guitar. Hrithik admitted he had never played the instrument before, which led to a restless night of practising air guitar. "I completely lost my mind just trying to think what the guitar was going to be and how could I, with these fingers, convey that," he laughed. Still anxious about the scene, he feels he got it "absolutely right" while shooting. Years later, his son, who loves playing music, told him that he had been playing the wrong notes.
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was a superhit when it released in 2000. The music composed by Hrithik's uncle Rajesh Roshan became an overnight sensation. Na Tum Jano Na Hum, Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara, and Ek Pal Ka Jeena songs topped the charts, and the movie became the second-highest-grossing film of the year, just after Mohabbatein. Now, the film is going to be re-released on January 10, 2025, which also happens to be Hrithik's birthday.
Along with the film re-release, Netflix docu-series The Roshans will also make its premiere on January 17. The four-part series will feature the lives of the Roshan family, specifically about Roshan Lal, Rajesh, Rakesh, and Hrithik, thus giving a candid look at their journey in the film industry.
