HDFC AMC gains 4% as Q3 profit rises 31% following strong results

HDFC Asset Management Company (AMC) saw a notable rise in its share price, gaining 4.44% to reach Rs 4,035.40 during Wednesday's intraday trade on the BSE. This increase came after the company reported strong earnings for the quarter that ended on December 31, 2024 (Q3FY25).

The company’s net profit for Q3FY25 showed a healthy 31% year-on-year (YoY) growth, reaching Rs 642 crore. This was an 11% increase compared to the September 2024 quarter. HDFC AMC’s revenue from operations also grew by 39% YoY, totaling Rs 934 crore during the quarter.

HDFC Mutual Fund, which is the third-largest fund house in India, reported an average assets under management (AUM) of Rs 7.9 trillion in Q4. The company held an 11.5% market share in the AUM space and 12.8% in the actively managed fund segment. The mutual fund house had 22.1 million active accounts by the end of the quarter, with 12.6 million unique investors. This represented 24% of the total mutual fund investor base in India, which stood at 44.6 million.

On Tuesday, HDFC AMC shares had gained 1.68% on the NSE, closing at Rs 3,899.

For the nine months ending December 31, 2024, the company’s operating profit was Rs 2,015 crore, compared to Rs 1,376 crore during the same period last year. Profit after tax (PAT) for this period was Rs 1,822 crore, up from Rs 1,405 crore in the same nine months of the previous year.

Looking at the stock’s performance over the past six months, HDFC AMC shares have closely followed the overall market trend, falling 4.1% in the last six months, while gaining 14.7% over the past year. In comparison, the BSE Sensex has dropped 4.9% in the past six months but increased by 4.6% over the last year.

As of now, HDFC AMC's market capitalization stands at Rs 85,912.04 crore. The company’s shares are trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 34.94, and its earnings per share (EPS) stands at 110.57.

At 10:02 AM on Wednesday, the company’s stock price rose by 4.43%, reaching Rs 4,034.80. During the same time, the BSE Sensex was up by 0.33%, standing at 76,753.43 points.
