Gold prices remained steady at ₹78,700 per 10 grams for the third consecutive day on Wednesday morning. Trading was slow with low activity, and mixed signals from the market kept gold prices steady.
Gold fluctuated within a tight range in the international market as investors anticipated the U.S. Federal Reserve's meeting minutes for a glimpse of future interest rates. Gold managed to sustain its gains with concerns regarding the trade policies in the U.S. However, a strong dollar and an increasing yield for bonds restricted it from any high-scale price leaps.
The poor rupee has provided a respite in terms of upward thrust to the bullion. On the flip side, dullness coupled with lower trade volumes suppressed price rally.
Globally, spot gold shed 0.04% as early Asian session progressed to settle at $2,647 per ounce. Its movement stayed within narrow confines of between $2,645 and $2,651 an ounce. Gold Prices in Major Indian Cities for 8 Jan, 2025.

Silver Prices Recover in India
On Wednesday, silver prices surged ₹1,200 to ₹92,600 per kilogram in major Indian cities. This jump came after a slight increase in demand from industrial users and supported local prices from the weak rupee.
Silver traded above $30 an ounce in global markets, which also aided prices in India. Spot silver rose 0.14% to $30.10 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved in a range of $30.01 to $30.15 an ounce.
Silver prices in key cities:
City Silver Price (per kg)

Chennai ₹100,100

Gold and Silver Trends This Week
Gold prices have stayed flat for three days, mainly due to low trading activity and mixed global signals. While the strong U.S. dollar has capped gains, gold is still attracting safe-haven demand.
Silver, on the other hand, showed a strong recovery on Wednesday after a quiet start to the week. Increased local demand and favorable global trends helped silver regain its momentum.
The interplay of all these factors continues to influence the precious metals market, as traders and investors remain wary in the present scenario.
