Police officials in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar area seized ₹47 lakh in cash from a car during a routine check on Tuesday. According to authorities, the vehicle was stopped by the Static Surveillance Team (SST) as part of their regular monitoring activities.
The car was being driven by Vaseem Malik, a 24-year-old resident of Sangam Vihar who claims to be a scrap dealer. During the inspection, Malik failed to provide proper documentation or an explanation for carrying such a large amount of cash. This led the officials to confiscate the money on the spot.
The police have stated that an investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the cash and determine whether it is linked to any illegal activities. Further action will be taken based on the findings, in compliance with legal procedures.
Authorities emphasized that strict surveillance is in place ahead of the upcoming elections, and they will continue their efforts to ensure transparency and prevent any misuse of funds.
