On Friday, Congress made a big announcement, promising that if they win the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, they will create a separate ministry and budget for the Purvanchali people. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, the President of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), shared this promise at the Delhi PCC office. He said that the new ministry and budget would focus on important issues related to the health and education of Purvanchalis.
Purvanchalis are people from Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and they form one of the largest voter groups in Delhi. Singh acknowledged that while Purvanchalis has played a key role in making Delhi a world-class city, their welfare needs have not been met by the current government. According to him, only the Congress party can take care of these needs and make sure the community gets the attention it deserves.
In other news, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s rally scheduled for Friday was canceled because he was not feeling well. This was the third rally cancellation in three days. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate explained that Rahul Gandhi was still recovering from his illness and would resume campaigning once he felt better. She also responded to the BJP's claim that Gandhi was scared of campaigning in Delhi, calling it "false."
When asked why Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had not campaigned in Delhi yet, Shrinate said they would join the campaign at the right time.
