Union Minister JP Nadda released the first part of the BJP’s manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, emphasizing welfare measures focused on women. He assured voters that if the BJP is elected to power, all public welfare schemes currently in place will continue in the capital. During his announcement, he accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of corruption and failing to deliver on its promises.
The BJP has pledged significant financial support for women, particularly pregnant women. Under the manifesto, pregnant women will receive one-time financial assistance of ₹21,000 and six nutritional kits. Additionally, ₹5,000 will be provided for the first child and ₹6,000 for the second child. Mr. Nadda also introduced the Mahila Smriddhi Yojana, which promises monthly assistance of ₹2,500 for women to enhance their financial stability.
He criticized the AAP government for failing to fulfill its 2021 promise of providing ₹1,000 monthly assistance to women, claiming that this commitment was not honored in either Delhi or Punjab.
The manifesto also includes a ₹500 subsidy on LPG cylinders and the provision of two free cylinders during Diwali and Holi. For senior citizens, the BJP promises an additional ₹5 lakh in health coverage, raising the total to ₹10 lakh. Pensions will be increased, from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 for those aged 60-70 and ₹3,000 for individuals above 70. Divyangs and widows will also receive ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance.
To address food security for the underprivileged, BJP plans to establish Atal Canteens in slum areas, where a full meal will cost just ₹5. The party also assured voters that the central government’s flagship health program, Ayushman Bharat, will be implemented in Delhi during the first cabinet meeting if BJP wins the election. The scheme had been opposed by the AAP, which claimed Delhi’s health programs are already superior.
Mr. Nadda alleged that AAP’s Mohalla Clinics are plagued by corruption, citing a ₹300 crore scam, and promised thorough investigations if BJP forms the government. He assured that those found guilty would face strict legal consequences.
The BJP’s manifesto underscores its focus on women’s welfare, support for senior citizens, and measures to combat corruption, aiming to build trust among voters ahead of the elections.
