The 77th Army Day Parade took place at the Bombay Engineers Group (BEG) and Centre in Pune, Maharashtra. This area, which is home to the Southern Command, witnessed a grand display of India’s military strength. The parade showcased powerful weapons and advanced technologies, highlighting the country's defense capabilities. The theme for this year’s Army Day celebrations is "Samarth Bharat, Shaksham Sena," which emphasizes the Indian Army’s readiness and its crucial role in building a strong and secure nation.

One of the most exciting moments of the parade was the participation of an all-women Agniveer contingent. Alongside them, there was an all-women marching team from the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Another first at the parade was the presence of 12 'robotic mules,' which are cutting-edge machines designed to help soldiers in challenging terrains. These robotic mules were accompanied by their handlers as they made their way through the parade. The Nepal Army band also played a key role in the event, symbolizing the close relationship between India and Nepal.

The parade saw various impressive military platforms on display. Some of these included the K9 Vajra self-propelled howitzer, the BMP-2 Sarath infantry combat vehicle, the Sarvatra bridging system, T-90 tanks, the Swathi weapon-locating radar, and the ATOR N1200 all-terrain vehicle. There were also multi-barrel rocket systems, drone jammer systems, and mobile communication nodes. Several military regiments took part in the march, including the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, Madras Regiment, Mechanized Infantry, Regiment of Artillery, Bombay Engineer Group, Army Service Corps, and Army Ordnance Corps, among others.

For the first time, a combined band of the Indian Army and Nepal Army performed during the parade, showing the strong partnership between the two countries. This moment was an important symbol of the bond shared by India and Nepal.

Traditionally, the Army Day Parade has been held in the national capital, New Delhi, but this changed in January 2023 when the parade was held in Bengaluru, under the Southern Command. Last year, the parade took place in Lucknow, part of the Central Command area.

Speaking during the event, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi shared his views on India's progress. He said, "Today, our country is standing at the brink of a new era and is advancing towards becoming a developed nation. To ensure that India continues to move forward on this path, a stable and secure environment is essential, and the Indian Army plays a vital role in this."

General Dwivedi also expressed confidence in the Army’s future, saying they are focused on becoming a "Modern, Agile, Adaptable, Technology-enabled, and future-ready force." Regarding the situation along the northern borders, he mentioned that while the area is stable, it remains sensitive. He assured that the Indian Army is fully prepared to handle any situation and is continuously working on modernizing equipment and building infrastructure in the region.

He also discussed the situation on the western borders, stating that while there is a ceasefire in place along the Line of Control, attempts to infiltrate continue. However, due to the efforts of security forces, violence in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased significantly. General Dwivedi highlighted that the peaceful completion of important events like the Parliament and Assembly elections, as well as the Amarnath Yatra, shows the improvement in the security situation in the region.

This year’s Army Day Parade was a memorable and historic event, showcasing the strength and readiness of the Indian Army while highlighting the importance of a secure and stable nation for progress.
