The Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council chaired a key meeting held at Al Majaz Amphitheatre to review the performance of media entities and discuss future strategies aimed at strengthening the emirate’s media ecosystem.
During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, including monitoring the performance of media institutions and aligning future plans with the council’s approved strategy to enhance overall media development in Sharjah.
The Chairman praised the strong role played by media organizations during recent regional developments. He highlighted their transparency in reporting, commitment to planned strategies, and readiness to keep up with fast-changing situations. He noted that these efforts reflect high professionalism, credibility, and a key role in raising public awareness while building trust in accurate information.
He also appreciated the achievements made by media entities over the past year, commending their strategic performance. These efforts have strengthened the media sector’s position and ensured better coordination among different organizations, supporting continued progress and excellence.
The council reviewed the 2025 performance indicators, where media entities achieved an average performance rate of 95%. This reflects high efficiency, strong collaboration, and a clear commitment to meeting strategic goals and improving institutional performance.
The first-quarter report of the Sharjah Media Council was also presented. It included updates on media services such as filming permits, commercial media licenses, partnerships with strategic partners, and progress in ongoing media development projects.
In addition, the performance of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s channels and platforms was reviewed for the first quarter of 2026. The report showed strong growth in viewership at both local and regional levels. The “Maraya” platform recorded over 10 million app visits, highlighting the quality and reach of its content.
The council was also updated on a new AI-powered media platform developed by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau. This platform aims to improve efficiency in content creation, analysis, and media monitoring. It offers features such as a smart archive, quick search, and instant access to information. The system is expected to reduce content preparation time by 40%, cut distribution efforts by 50%, and speed up access to media materials by 70%.
Further updates were shared on developments in Sharjah Media City (Shams). These include the completion of the design phase for Shams Studios, which will feature five production studios, 17 creative units, and dedicated facilities for production and post-production. The council also reviewed the growth of business licenses, the performance of the Shams Business Center, and the success of the second edition of the Shams Award for Arabic Content, which attracted 1,210 participants from across the Arab region.
The meeting was attended by senior officials and media leaders from various Sharjah media institutions, reflecting strong collaboration and unified efforts to advance the emirate’s media sector.
