His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony of the sixth batch of certified reciters from the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah. The ceremony was held at the University City Hall in Sharjah, where 311 graduates received Quranic certification.
During the event, Sheikh Sultan announced the completion of the “Rhetorical Interpretation” encyclopedia, a major Quranic project consisting of 68 volumes. The encyclopedia took four years to complete and provides a detailed rhetorical explanation of the Holy Quran.
The Sharjah Ruler also launched three new Quranic encyclopedia projects. One of them is the “Quranic Word” encyclopedia, which studies every word in the Holy Quran through its meaning, language, derivation, terminology, and context.
In addition, Sheikh Sultan signed the first copies of two new encyclopedias on Quranic reading methodologies. These include the encyclopedia of the reading of Asim al-Kufi with the narrations of Shu’bah and Hafs in 22 volumes, and the encyclopedia of Ibn Kathir in 17 volumes. The projects also include narration charts and explanatory Quranic texts prepared by 63 scholars.
In his speech, Sheikh Sultan expressed happiness over the completion of the encyclopedia projects and praised Sharjah’s institutions for supporting science, education, and Islamic studies for more than 50 years.
He also announced the establishment of “Dar Al-Hadith” in Sharjah University City, a new institution dedicated to Hadith studies. The institution will offer specialised certificates in Hadith sciences alongside the Holy Quran Academy and Al Qasimia University.
The Sharjah Ruler said the emirate remains committed to supporting Arabic language studies, Quranic sciences, and Islamic education through advanced educational institutions with strong scientific and cultural foundations.
Sheikh Sultan also highlighted Sharjah’s role in promoting Arabic language and Quranic education in African countries. He noted that many African students study at Al Qasimia University and later establish Arabic and Quranic learning centres in their home countries.
The Chairman of the Holy Quran Academy, Dr Khalifa Musbah Al Tunaiji, thanked Sheikh Sultan for his continued support for Quranic education and scientific projects.
He revealed that the Academy is preparing a new strategy for 2027-2029 focused on digitising Quranic educational projects and making them accessible to students and researchers around the world through interactive platforms.
Al Tunaiji also spoke about the success of the Sharjah Global Electronic Quran Recitation Centre through the “Thamarah al-Thamarah” project. The initiative has expanded across six continents and 51 countries, benefiting hundreds of students in Quranic studies.
The Academy also launched the Citizen Reciter Project in cooperation with several Islamic institutions in Sharjah to support and train Emirati Quran memorizers and reciters.
During the ceremony, attendees watched a documentary presentation about the “Thamarah al-Thamarah” project, which trains graduates to become Quran teachers and reciters in different countries worldwide.
Dr Muhammad Safi Al-Mustaghani, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, explained the importance of the “Rhetorical Interpretation” encyclopedia. He said the project involved 68 scholars from around the world and focuses on explaining the rhetorical meanings, structure, and linguistic beauty of Quranic verses and words.
At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan took commemorative photos with scholars and contributors to the Academy’s scientific projects, while graduates received their Quranic certificates during the event attended by senior officials, scholars, and researchers.
