The Sharjah Cultural Honouring Forum has continued its cultural journey across Arab cities, reinforcing its role as a leading initiative dedicated to celebrating Arab intellectuals and creatives in their home countries.
Held under the patronage of Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the forum recently arrived in Amman, where the 26th edition honoured four distinguished Jordanian figures.
The honourees included translator Dr Mohammed Asfour, critic Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni, writer and heritage researcher Dr Ahmad Sharif Al Zoubi, and poet Mariam Al Saifi. The initiative reflects Sharjah’s commitment to recognising literary figures who have made significant contributions to contemporary Arab culture.
This marks the sixth time the forum has been hosted in Jordan, further strengthening cultural collaboration between the UAE and Jordan. The ceremony took place at the National Library Department in Amman, drawing a wide audience of cultural figures, intellectuals, and officials.
Among the attendees were Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, and representatives from the Jordanian Ministry of Culture. The event highlighted strong bilateral ties and shared cultural values between the two nations.
In his address, Al Owais conveyed greetings from the Ruler of Sharjah and emphasised the forum’s growing influence as a platform that honours creativity and promotes knowledge as a path toward human development. He described the gathering as a symbol of fruitful cooperation between cultural institutions in both countries.
Dr Nayef Al Ajlouni, speaking on behalf of the honourees, expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that the forum goes beyond personal honouring to support broader intellectual and cultural dialogue across the Arab world.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation, signed by the Ruler of Sharjah, acknowledging the honourees’ literary and intellectual contributions.
An accompanying exhibition showcased publications from the Sharjah Department of Culture, including cultural magazines and literary works, reflecting the emirate’s ongoing efforts to enrich the Arab cultural landscape.
