Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has enacted a decree to officially create the “Wadi Al Qarha” Nature Reserve, aiming to conserve the region's environment, wildlife, and scenic charm.
The decree delineates the reserve's boundaries as per an authorized map. Strict regulations have been put in place to halt actions that might harm the ecosystem or disrupt local fauna.
Explicitly prohibited within the reserve are activities like hunting, harming animals, or other harmful actions, except those sanctioned by environmental guidelines. It also bars the introduction of foreign species into the environment.
Damage to habitats, geological features, or plant and animal breeding sites is strictly forbidden. Pollution of air, water, and soil is outlawed, along with military activities, such as shooting drills.
The removal of trees, soil damage, or engaging in recreational or sports events detrimental to wildlife is not allowed. Any construction, road development, vehicle operation, or commercial activities require special permission from the relevant authorities.
The decree emphasizes maintaining the natural equilibrium of the reserve, with adjacent areas also under protection, necessitating official clearance for any activities that could impact the ecosystem.
This legislation is in accordance with Federal Law No. 24 of 1999, which safeguards all living organisms, including the species that rely on the reserve for nesting or habitat.
Management of the reserve will involve coordination with local municipalities and Sharjah Police, who will enforce these regulations and address any violations.
Violators will incur penalties and are obliged to compensate for any environmental harm inflicted.
This initiative reinforces Sharjah’s commitment to preserving its natural landscapes and ensuring biodiversity for future generations.
