At the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, the official handover ceremony for the presidency took place, heralding a new era with To Lam succeeding former President Luong Cuong.
The event gathered senior officials, including members of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Committee, underscoring the importance of this leadership transition within the Vietnamese political landscape.
During the proceedings, the Office of the President shared an overview of accomplishments during Luong Cuong’s presidency. The formal signing of handover documents marked the completion of this significant transition.
In his farewell remarks, former President Luong Cuong expressed heartfelt gratitude for the trust he received and reminisced about his years of dedicated service. He vowed to continue serving with commitment and appreciated the support from the Party, State, and the citizens.
In taking on his new role, To Lam conveyed his honor at being chosen as President, reiterating his oath to uphold the Constitution, the nation, and its people. He acknowledged the legacy left by prior leaders.
To Lam also emphasized the accomplishments of Luong Cuong, noting his influence in enhancing governance, legal structures, and both domestic and international relations during his time in office.
As Vietnam progresses into a new phase, To Lam highlighted the necessity of preserving political stability, driving economic growth, bolstering national defense, and lifting the quality of life for its citizens.
He urged for unity among various sectors and society, asserting that the nation’s true strength lies in the creativity and resilience of its people, and committed to collective efforts for national advancement.
