Vietnam has marked a significant milestone in its democratic process with the successful completion of its 2026 elections, achieving one of the highest voter turnout rates ever recorded. Official figures indicate that over 76 million voters participated across more than 72,000 polling stations, resulting in an impressive 99.7 percent turnout. These elections were focused on electing deputies to the 16th National Assembly as well as local People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term.

Nguyen Thi Thanh remarked on the smooth execution of the elections, which were facilitated by effective collaboration among government bodies and political organizations. She noted that all 500 deputies of the National Assembly were successfully elected, showcasing meticulous planning and delivery of the electoral process.

Voter engagement was notably high in major urban centers, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where the voting process concluded ahead of schedule, despite the large populations. Authorities confirmed that the election process maintained principles of transparency, democracy, and security, with a reduction in complaints compared to past elections.

Officials highlighted that the success of the election symbolizes national solidarity and public trust in leadership. This outcome is anticipated to significantly influence Vietnam’s governance and policy trajectory in the years to come.
